We brew. Jeff hides in our fermentation chamber.

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

While brewing went off without a hitch last night (we brewed another batch of our wildly popular Eye Patch Ale), Jeff spent a good chunk of the night dodging work by hiding in our fermentation chamber:

Jeff was actually cleaning the bottom of the chamber, which can get a little nasty after multiple fermentations. Joel will [...]

Why we’re not starting a hop farm

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Last week we harvested our first hops from our vines, and were quite pleased with the yield. I was thinking we’d get 1-2 lbs of hops based on the amount we pulled off. But after a few days of drying, the final weight was just about 8 oz. But my dreams of [...]

Hop harvest!

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

We got off to an early start last night, so we had some extra time. We spent it on a quick little business meeting (more on that soon) and our hop plants, which have been growing like gangbusters their 2nd year in existence.

Thank the Lord that big ugly thing in the middle wasn’t a hop, [...]

Brewing on Labor Day

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Lesser men would take Labor Day off. To be fair, we ARE taking Labor Day off from our day jobs. But we’re NOT taking Labor Day off from brewing. So come on by Jeff’s tonight and join us as we brew our wildly popular (and still unnamed) Belgian wit. Usually people start showing up around [...]

A successful night of brewing (without the brewing)

Thanks to everyone who came last night. We had a good crowd, in spite of the weather. The rain made it difficult to brew (we didn’t want any of Atlanta’s acid raid infecting our beers), so we actually just hung out and drank. It was amazing. We circled up a bunch of chairs and made [...]

Tonight we brew the Eye Patch Ale

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Come on by Jeff’s tonight (email for directions) and help us brew the first batch of the Eye Patch Ale. The Eye Patch, is essentially the same recipe as the Swashchuckler IPA, but with a new name since Seth got duped into ceding us his best pirate-themed name.
Hope to see you there–

Bottling party tonight!

Monday, August 11th, 2008

A slight oversight on our part… we ran out of base malt last week and forgot to get some more over the weekend. Fortunately, we have plenty of bottling/drinking to do. We’ll be bottling some Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale and some of our still new Belgian Dubbel (tentatively named Southern Monk). Drop by Jeff’s to [...]
