About

Monday Night Brewery is an Atlanta-based craft-brewery-in-planning. For over two years now we have been honing our brews and developing our ideas on what an Atlanta craft brewery should be. We hope to be on draft (and in bottles) by 2010.

Believe it or not, the idea for Monday Night Brewery grew out of a small Atlanta Bible study (Yes, that Bible. The Bible where Jesus’ first miracle was to make more wine to keep a party going). We started brewing beer on Monday nights as a way to get to know each other better. This apparently worked well, because the three founders have become great friends, in addition to brewing great beer.

Weekends are overrated

These weeknight brewing sessions have also lent us our name and our rallying cry: Weekends are overrated. What does this mean to us?

  • It’s not about living for the weekend, but about enjoying every day as much as you can – in particular, you’re welcome to enjoy Mondays with us. We still brew every Monday night.
  • Quality, not quantity – it’s our goal to brew beers that are both interesting and accessible. Beers that should be savored, not guzzled. After all, you’ve got work the next day, right?
  • Relationships – beers that go great with meals but are also complex enough to stand on their own if you’re grabbing a beer with a friend. And did we mention you should join us for a Monday evening brewing session?

The founders

Who exactly is behind Monday Night Brewery? Three friends, each with different passions and skills.

Jeff Heck, CEO Guy and Supreme Beer Chancellor email
jeffJeff graduated from Harvard, a fact he never fails to remind us of when trying to win an argument. But more importantly, he has an anal-retentive passion for perfection. Jeff is in charge of recipe formulation and anything related to Excel spreadsheets and/or dollar signs. He currently works in private equity. His wife, Hannah, has put up with our brewing shenanigans at their house for long enough to qualify her for sainthood.

Joel Iverson, Operations Guy and Taste-testing Ninja email
Joel is the guy we turn to when something is broke. He built our fermentation chamber. He built our kegerators. He is also pretty good at cleaning a keg. Joel likes to invent random Standard Operating Procedures (”SOP’s” as he calls them) and then enforce them after the fact. He graduated from UVA and currently works as an operations consultant for a number of direct-to-consumer brands. His wife, Mary Stuart, has already qualified for sainthood, as she hosted Monday Night Brewery in her house for the first year of its existence.

Jonathan Baker, Marketing Guy and Master of Mind Control emailjonathan
Jonathan is the surprisingly adept creative guy. He develops and maintains the MNB brand, including the website and the beer labels. Jonathan also makes sure Joel doesn’t scare away any potential customers with his SOPs. He graduated from Emory and currently works as a marketing consultant for a number of Fortune 500 brands. He’s still looking for Mrs. Right, so ladies take note. And be aware that sainthood is one of the perks.
