Those kids with their emails and their car phones…

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Sometimes I take it for granted that we’re doing something different here.  Launching a brewery using primarily Web 2.0 tactics would be completely unrealistic even 5 years ago. Now, however, it just makes sense. It’s more cost-effective than traditional marketing, it allows us to engage people where they are (surfing the interwebs), and it allows for much [...]

The things Joel does instead of helping me

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

I haven’t decided on whether or not I’m going to make this a recurring column. For now, I’ll keep it short. As the ‘operations guy,’ (we still don’t know exactly what this means), Joel is one handy dude. So handy in fact that he’ll take on what seems to be a simple project without knowing what exactly [...]

Tonight, We Brew

Monday, May 19th, 2008

We’ll be brewing our famous Weiss Guy Hefe tonight with an added variation: Belgian Yeast.  We just found out our CO2 tanks are both dead so it’s BYOB or BYOCO2T (Bring Your Own CO2 Tank).
Hope to see you there!

It’s Business Time

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

MNB is officially open for business.  Okay, so we’re not selling beer but due to numerous requests for MNB paraphernalia (and the fact that those capitalistic shareholders are putting some pressure on us to generate SOME revenue) we are opening the MNB store.  You can visit this online shopping mecca by simply clicking the new “Shop” button [...]

Beer for dogs: take 2

Friday, May 16th, 2008

After a bit of spirited discussion on the subject of serving beer to dogs, it seems like this less-than-significant argument won’t die. Or ‘play dead.’ Man, I am freakishly good with these puns.

Apparently there’s more than one company venturing into non-alcoholic beer for dogs. This one is in Denmark. Read more about the company, which [...]

“Signs” of life in Georgia’s alcohol laws?

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Our guv’na, Sonny Perdue, signed a couple wine laws at the last possible moment. While none of these is related to beer, it could provide a nice little backdrop for updating Georgia’s notoriously stingy beer laws. Three wine laws have recently been approved:

The most exciting: ONLINE wine sales
 Sunday sales at Gwinnett stadium
Ability to take half [...]

Night of the living homebrewers

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

The stars aligned last night. We had a good group of folks show up – all of them were homebrewers. It felt like a special Beer-Dorks-Only-Club. And unbeknownst to me, we actually had our WORLD FAMOUS Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale on tap. Thanks for the heads up, Jeff. Also, it’s not quite “world-famous” yet, just [...]
