The proverbial “business blog”
Blogs. So hot right now. Blogs.
Joel and I both work in marketing, so we’re pretty close to the internet marketing world, for better or worse. The past few years there’s been a huge push in digital marketing – from corporate blogs to 2nd Life to MySpace. In general I think this has been “for worse.” That’s not to say it can’t be done correctly. Look at Monday Night Brewery. There’s no mistaking that we are at least on our way to becoming to business, and this blog is our chief “marketing” tactic. There. I said it.
Obviously we wouldn’t have started a blog if we didn’t see any value in one. We’re hoping to be the first brewery to launch using primarily Web 2.0 tactics. Someone may have beaten us to it already. If so, I hope those jokers choke on their blog and die. (Joking)
All that to say, we’ve learned a lot about blogging over the past year and a half. So much so that I’ve actually been asked to speak at a conference on how to establish yourself as a thought leader when blogging. Pretty much anyone who regularly reads our blog could make a very strong argument that we aren’t thought leaders in anything (except maybe how to be ridiculously good looking). I’m hoping those people don’t show up at this conference and heckle me. The talks will be tomorrow. Wish me luck!

You guys being invited to speak at a conference really proves the point that:
“In the land of the blind, the man with one eye is king”
Great work.

Yes, but the man with one eye may also be a pirate.

Don’t open it up for “butt pirate” jokes from Travis!
