We admit it. Pucker Punch was a lame name for a beer.
I take full responsibility, seeing as it was actually my idea. I think we liked it at the time… but we were also probably a little buzzed and easily excitable. So we’ve got a new name for our cranberry ale (and it is NOT Manberry Ale, though that was my ultimate vote). Introducing: Sweet & Dour Bog Monster Cranberry Ale, which will be known affectionately as the Bog Monster. Break you off a piece.

Pucker Punch IS a bad name…brings back memories of drunk girls carrying around flasks of that green puckers sour apple crap.
Good choice to drop that one :)

Again with the vocabulary. I have had to look up dour… and then i couldn’t see why a monster was sweet and dark.
what if he was a monster helping a lady across the street or hugging his mom?
I guess I don’t get it.

3. Sternly obstinate; unyielding: a dour determination.
Sweet and Dour (besides playing off of “sweet and sour”) is meant to describe the irreconcilable characteristics of the BogMonster (the creature and the beer). He’s the culmination of the sweetness found in the cranberry combined with the bitterness and very stern nature of the beer (”this ain’t your ocean spray juice drink we’re talking about”).
Maybe that clarifies the BogMonster a little more…maybe it just confuses the subject further….

i don’t like the name either… but it sounds like a good beer. can’t wait to get a taste…
