MNB flexes its bottling muscles

bottling1.jpgYes, as many of you know, we’ve been in a slump lately. A wild-yeast-induced slump. Unfortunately we didn’t realize this until the first batch became drinkable (or explodable). Since we brew every week, that means there were three other batches brewed using the same processes and scratched up plastic buckets. That means four total botched batches. Consecutively.

We have since made broad-sweeping changes in our processes, including doing primary fermentation in glass carboys and bottling from our stainless steel brew kettle. This last Saturday gave us a bit of hope for the future. We bottled three batches – the first batches using the new processes. Yes, that means approximately 150 bottles of delicious beer: a double IPA, a cream ale and a cranberry ale. We’ll know in a week or two whether or not our new processes have reaped in huge rewards. We have our fingers crossed.
